Thanksgiving Crafts for Kids

My daughter did some rather cute art projects in preschool for Thanksgiving.  She made an adorable turkey with paper plates and construction paper.  On each turkey feather that was stapled to the body she had written something for which she was thankful.  I was soo happy to see the word “mommy” written on one of those feathers.  It totally melted my heart.  The turkey even had a pocket on the front with instruction for us to ask her what else she is thankful for throughout the week and have her stuff it in the turkey. The directions also directed us to read all of the things she was thankful for to the family on Thanksgiving.

Another cute craft for kids that she brought home was a cornucopia made out of a brown paper bag.  She cut off the end and twisted it up to look like the end of a cornucopia.  Then inside she pasted pictures of fruits and vegetables that she had painted.  She was really excited to show me her new creation when I picked her up from school that day.

I think my favorite craft she brought home to us was an adorable pot holder.  It had a turkey on it that was made from her hand print.  Her fingers were the feathers, her thumb was the head, and her palm was the body.  Her teacher wrote her name and the year on it with paint for us to keep as a keepsake.  I’ll cherish this pot holder for years to come, I’m sure of it.

I’d like to do something with both of my girls together to have for us to look back and enjoy in years to come.  I’ve been scouring Pinterest for the perfect project but I haven’t settled on just what it will be yet.  Do you have any Thanksgiving crafts for kids that you like to do in your family?
